What personal data we collect and why we collect it
The ISFN collects data from ISFN members and prospective ISFN members and website users. This may include the personal data of members, member account preferences; transactional data from membership fee or event registration purchases; and technical data, such as the information collected by login cookies. Also collected are website comment content, information which may be disclosed within the embedded data of media items (images, PDF content) and tracking information used for website and newsletter analytics.
The personal data collected from members may include contact information such as name, address, phone or email contacts, or more sensitive personal information for the purposes of membership administration including place, nation and date of birth. To fulfill the requirements of Italian law for our organization and create our Official Register of Members the ISFN must collect this sensitive personal information from each member. The ISFN does store the contact information of members, however, to protect the security of sensitive personal information we do not store it on our website and will only accept this information via SMS (text) message or via email.
This website is a resource for members of the ISFN and includes a protected content area for member use only. Members are invited to create individual user accounts using personal data such as name and email address. This account data may be accessed or edited by the member at any time. Former members’ account information may be deleted upon request at any time.
Contact and Newsletter Subscription Forms
This website utilizes contact and newsletter subscription forms to collect information for various purposes which may include member applications, email newsletter marketing, publication submissions, event registrations etc. The data from submissions is kept and used by the ISFN only and is never shared with or sold to third parties. Please note: newsletter subscriptions are collected via MailChimp, a third-party email client tool, and ISFN subscribers may opt-out at any time via unsubscribe links included in our periodic email newsletters.
Transactions performed on this website for membership registrations or event registration are administered off-site via third-party PayPal payments. As such the ISFN does not have access to or record credit card information from these transactions which occur on the PayPal website. Transactional information other than credit card information will be recorded and stored by the ISFN for the purposes of membership and event administration. Cookies are small data files stored on the computer/tablet/phone of a website visitor. The ISFN website uses reCAPTCHA, a free security service from Google that helps protect our website from spam and abuse by keeping out automated software such as spam bots. It does this by collecting information about users to determine whether they are humans. reCAPTCHA works by checking to see if the viewer’s device has a Google cookie placed on it. Cookies may also be set within your browser from the ISFN website by other third-party software or embedded content from other websites such as Google Analytics, PayPal, MailChimp and Facebook.
Traditional-style comments are not accepted on this website. However the ISFN welcomes comments/discussion via email from network members that are directed to our Ferenczi Forum posts. These comments are moderated by ISFN governance and posted on the website in spaces accessed by members only. The comment posted includes the name of the member who submitted it for discussion.
All media items submitted to this website for publication may include embedded location data. If you submit images to the website, you should avoid sending images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website may download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Pages on this site may include embedded content sourced from other websites (e.g. Facebook widgets, videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

This aids the ISFN in monitoring our website performance so we can provide the best website experience to our visitors. Who we share your data with
The personal data collected by the ISFN is used by the ISFN only and solely for the purposes of
- managing the membership process of the ISFN
- managing events hosted by the ISFN
- delivering news about the ISFN to subscribers
- managing the content of the website of the ISFN (forum comments, publication submissions).
ISFN newsletter subscriber information and tracking analytics is stored via MailChimp. Transactional payment data on this website may be collected by PayPal. Other data may be collected by our third-party provider Google for their reCaptcha and Analytics services.
How long we retain your data
The ISFN evaluates the personal data collected periodically to determine whether it is current and still needs to be retained. Some of our member data may be retained for longer periods of time to comply with the legal requirements for our organization.
Newsletter subscription information will be retained for as long as the subscriber agrees to receive our email newsletters.
For members that register on our website we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All member users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
Members who have an account on our website, or who have left comments, can request to receive an exported file of the personal website data we hold about them, including any data provided to us. They can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about them. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Newsletter subscribers are able to opt out of receiving our newsletters via the unsubscribe link appearing at the bottom of every newsletter communication.
Where we send your data
The ISFN is an international organization with board members around the globe. Your personal information may be shared outside of the European Union for the purposes of membership approval and throughout the process of administering the ISFN. Additionally, the ISFN website administrator operates outside of the European Union and therefore accesses our website data internationally.
